School Tax Credit
Did you know you can make a big impact on the schools in our district in a way that doesn’t cost you a thing?
What is the tax credit?
Arizona state tax law allows taxpayers (regardless of whether or not they have children in school) to receive tax credit for donations of up to $400 made to public schools to help support qualifying extracurricular activities. This will not only benefit the children in our district, but it will also reduce the state taxes you owe—dollar for dollar!
How can I contribute?
All Arizona individual tax payers are eligible to contribute regardless of whether or not they have children in school. Tax payers may donate up to the following amounts:
Single or head of household—up to $200
Married filing jointly—up to $400
To take advantage of the tax credit, simply make a donation to the school of your choice with the money designated for qualifying extracurricular activities.
Do I have to donate the full $200 or $400?
No. You can donate the full amount or any dollar amount up to the limit that you’d like, and you may donate all at once or in installments throughout the calendar year.
Which activities qualify?
An extracurricular activity means any optional educational or recreational activity that supplements the education program of the school. Examples of extracurricular activities include field trips, sports, visual and performing arts, clubs, and other special programs.
Can I designate where my money goes?
Yes, you can specify where you want your donation to go. You can choose your child’s school or choose a school based on need, location, or grade levels.
We are happy to assist you if you’d like help choosing a school or an extracurricular activity or if you simply have questions about the program.
