Hello everyone! My name is Durena Thompson. I am the Principal of San Carlos High School. I am Apache and am a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. I am Tendolzhaage on my mother's side and born for the Walnut clan on my father's side. My mother's name is Darlene (Swift) Chapman and my father was the late Emanuel Thompson Sr. Robert Lewis Jr. and I have been married for 37 years and have four children and blessed with 5 grandchildren.
I have worked for San Carlos Unified School district for 24 years this year and I look forward to working for your children for many more years to come.
In my educational career I have earned three degrees. From Arizona State University, a Master of Education in Educational Administration & Supervision in 2011. From Northern Arizona University, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership in 2002. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northern Arizona University in 1994. I can understand and speak the Apache Language and believe that every student who attends SCHS should be taught to speak the language and learn of the Apache culture, history, and language while in attendance.
My message is "In everything we do and in the decisions, we make, your children are thought of first and foremost."
