RACHEL ELTHIE
LIBRARIAN
Education has always been valued in my family here in San Carlos, Arizona. At the tender age of nine, my mother sent me away to live with a foster family in California to gain an education. Lonely at first, this experience was also scary, different and exciting, but because of the importance placed on education in my life, I was motivated to pursue and obtain my educational dreams.
I graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of Communications. I then received my teaching credentials from Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, Arizona in 1986. I have devoted 34 years to the San Carlos Unified School District as a 2nd grade teacher, librarian and human resources director. I enjoy working each day and want to encourage our children to pursue higher learning. I earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) in El Paso, Texas in 1999 and I received my librarian credentials from the University of Arizona (U of A) in Tucson, Arizona in 2004.
Never stop learning; I make it a habit to learn something new each week. Thank you to all who have touched my life: You have inspired me to continue teaching.
